This software was intended to be used in conjunction with the Windows 
Gopher server "GopherS".  The WAIS server indexes the documents on your 
GopherS server, then delivers results via a linked GopherS Type 7 search.

This WAIS server was witten by the European Microsoft Windows NT 
Academic Center at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.  Although 
written for Windows NT, and no longer in development, it suposedly 
works perfectly under Windows 2000 (I have never used the software, but
it is designed to run as an NT "service").  

This WAIS server must be run in conjunction with the WAIS Toolkit.

The WAIS Toolkit was witten by the European Microsoft Windows NT

required for use in conjunction with the WAISS server.  I have not used
this software, and it is no longer in development, but it suposedly
